Tilley collection, 1936-2000.

This large collection contains materials dealing with Reade Tilley's military and civilian careers. As a fighter ace in World War II, Tilley kept his flight logs and diaries of his experiences from 1941 to 1942. Also included are oral histories and documents relating to his interest in auto racing. Extensive information regarding the Eagle Squadron Association and Tilley's involvement with getting a memorial built to honor the memory of fallen Eagle Squadron members in London is another part of the collection. Of particular importance in the collection are numerous documents, speeches, and newspaper clippings written by and about General Curtis LeMay, whom Tilley worked with at the Strategic Air Command. Other interesting files contain copies of General Ira C. Eaker's newspaper columns that covered almost two decades from the 1960's to the 1980's.
